Adopt-A-Highway Resumes!
The weather has broken and it’s time to clean up the highway.
This was one of the first things we started with the group, before the inclusion of the word atheist in the name, before the advent of FFRF Chapterhood, and well before The Great Undoing of ‘17. It still is one of my favorite things to do, and I’m sad more people don’t appreciate the benefit of getting involved.
First of all, it’s fabulous exercise, and 2 hours of device free activity. That alone should be enough, but throw in the chance of finding something bizarre, interesting or valuable make it nearly irresistable for an outdoorsperson who craves adventure.
We have a great stretch of I-94 frontage by Apple Holler, with superb visiblity and a fun interesting walk that usually includes watching local skydivers! It’s a great way to give back, and you can always swing through the Holler for some farm goods while you’re cleaning Religiots’ garbage.
